acyclovirFrom: claire (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 19 Dec 1998 11:37:57 -0600 (CST)
several years ago I had severe vulvar pain after sex that could last several weeks. sometimes it would be painful for me to wear pants or pantyhose and I had to wear loose clothing or skirts. there were no visual indications that anything was wrong. I went to four doctors who tested me for everything. one doctor prescribed a cortisone cream and another treated me for chronic yeast infection. neither treatment helped. I am a lesbian and not had a sexual partner in two years. I recently tested negative for HIV. I have recently become involved with someone. the first time we had sex, I had no problems. the second time (several months later because we live 1700 miles apart), I thought I was developing a yeast infection. it developed into the same problem I had several years ago. my psychiatrist, who is treating me for depression w/wellbutrin, told me that she had worked in a clinic for sexual disfunction. she related several instances where women who had the same symptoms as I and had all negative test results were prescribed acyclovir and about half responded positively. I have filled the prescription and have discussed the situation w/my partner. we have a trip planned together in january. I have had a scrape test and a blood test for herpes which were both negative. I have never had any bumps, blisters or adhesions. is it possible that I have herpes?
