Pelvic tenderness @ 11 weeks pregnantFrom: AMD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 Dec 1998 15:30:02 -0600 (CST)
I am about 11 weeks pregnant and I have noticed what seems to be tenderness or soreness when pressure is put on on my pelvis. An example occurred the other night when I was laying on my side and my husband put his hand across my lower abdomen (just above my pubic bone) to pull me closer to him. He's done this a thousand times and it has never hurt. But this time, it caused a cramping pain that lasted a couple of minutes. I sometimes experience a similar pain if I poke around my stomach, trying to see if I can feel anything. I have sometimes had it if a twist around funny while trying to sit down or get up. It is not a constant pain -- it seems to be a response to external pressure on the area. This pain is different from the "stitches" I sometimes get when coughing, laughing, or getting up quickly. This is different from the round ligament pain I remember from my first pregnancy. Is pelvic/abdominal tenderness common in the 1st trimester? Is is common to experience more ligament pain (and have it earlier) in second pregnancies? It seems like this pregnancy has been more painful than my first-- more cramping, pulling, etc. And I don't remember having any pain before 4 or 5 months the first time around. In case it helps, my doc did mention at 8 1/2 weeks that my uterus was already out of my pelvis. Could this make me more tender and sore? Thanks, Andrea
