Missed Period High Testosterone LevelsFrom: Brooke (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 12 Dec 1998 20:54:29 -0600 (CST)
I am a mother of three. It has been eight years since I have had my youngest child. I do have higher levels of testosterone...which my doctor has said that I may be more prone to developing cysts on my ovaries. I have only been on birth control pills for two cycles now, and if I do miss even one pill, I would begin menustrating that afternoon of the morning pill that was missed. I now have missed a period completely. It has been two weeks, now. I was concerned with pregnancy, so I had a blood test done. It was negative. My hormone levels have always been a little off, so I am unsure if HCG levels would show up at the earliest onset of pregnancy with me. And also, if I am beginning to develop cysts on my ovaries, how quickly do these develop, how will I know, what symptoms will I have, and how quickly will they leave? A friend of mine said that if a cyst erupts, it is potentially life-threatening to me. I do not know if this is true, either. I called my OBGYN's office, and wanted an exam, the nurse said that I was worried for nothing, and that the inconsistant pains that I am having in my right tube, or ovary and a missed period is normal and not to be concerned. Should I get a second opinion?
