Ovarian Cyst and PregnancyFrom: Tammy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Nov 1998 15:18:50 -0600 (CST)
Yesterday, November 27, i went to my doctor complaining of backache and thinking that I was pregnant (i have been trying for several months now). The Doctor, who was not an OB/GYN, wanted me to go for an ultrasound. After having the ultrasound, the doctors found, what they thought, was a tubal pregnancy (actually, they said I had a mass near my right ovary that had blood flow to it)....informing me that it was most likely a tubal pregnancy, they wanted me to go to surgery right away. I was very scared and somewhat hesitant, because months before, I was told that I had a cyst on my right ovary...but the doctors said that because I had a positive pregnancy test and nothing was showing in the uterus, it was probably tubal. I told them that I couldn't be more than 10 day pregnant. Needless to say, they performed the laparoscopy and found that it was not a tubal, it was a cyst and they left it there. Now, I don't understand why they would leave it, am I just going to have to put up with this pain from the cyst? Will the surgery harm my growing baby? What about the anesthesia? I didn't get a chance to talk with my doctor before she left for the day. Also, I feel that I shouldn't be having so much pain following a simple procedure. I am in an incredible amount of pain. Please respond at your earliest convenience.
