Dear Tracy,

As you know I am a ex Breast Cancer patient. I am going to try and give you some input to some of your questions based on my knowledge of BC. At Mon, 16 Nov 1998, Tracy wrote: >

OK lets tackle this: Any changes in physicial apperance of a breast needs to be checked out and a good reason found for it. Nipple change is included. If you have not been mashing on your breast to check out the area and it feels bruised get it checked. I did think I had brusied my breast from a fall I had a month or two earlier but it was not the case. >

My lump was not a hard round ball it had irregular boarders and an irregular shape. I'd call it solid and a bit mushy. >

ANY lump that is new or different or irregular in shape MUST be checked out. Go to your OB/GYN. Get a mammogram and if Anything is the least bit questionable ask for and get a referral to a BC Surgeon. This type of doctor can tell sometimes just by feeling it if it is OK or not. They will do any followup needed to rule out BC. Remember that's their job. >
>2.Moveable or not moveable a factor?

Mine was a bit movable. Remember your breasts are full of squissy tissue and things do move a bit in them. >
>3. Should I se my PCP or GYN?

GYN definatly.... They are trained to work with patients with conditions of the breast and will be excellent if you need a referral. >
>4. I have a strong maternal family history of breast cancer

BIG warning sign to Always get any "new" lump checked out.

I don't know enough about it to give you an answe. >

See Above

Tracy you can email me privatly if you want to.

Remember Most Lumps are NOT BC but no-one wants to be the one who didn't check out the one that is. Barbara >
