A Question about Passing Very Large Clots

I'm 41 years old, have had two pregnancies which resulted in two healthy children and had a tubal ligation twenty years ago after the birth of my second child.

Last spring, after almost two years of very heavy, very frequent periods (lasting 10-14 days, skip 7-10 days, start again), I had a D&C and hysteroscopy, followed by three months of progesterine (1/day for 10 days). Since the D&C, my periods have gotten more regular (at least for me). My cycles are running from 22 to 35 days and my periods last 5-7 days. The problem is I end up missing at least one day of work every month because I simply can't keep up with the flow. It's not so much that I'm bleeding alot (though my periods are heavier than they've ever been in my life), but that the clots I'm passing are so large that even an overnight pad can't absorb it. This usually happens on day two or three of my period, lasts about twenty four hours, after which the flow slows down considerably. I have an appointment with by OB-Gyn in two weeks at which time, we'll discuss this, but I was wondering if anyone else experiences this and if it's something to worry about.
