You more than likely have a fairly common problem that occurs after vaginal surgery, called a "suture granuloma." This is a tiny area of irritation, usually buried within the folds of the vagina, that forms around a stitch or where a stitch used to be. It becomes irritated and bleeds a little. Bleeding after intercourse or after a bowel movement are the most common complaints. A gynecologist with a colposcope (a magnifying lens to look in the vagina) can look around and find it. It can be treated by cautery, or surgical excision. Other possible causes include a fistula (hole between the rectum and vagina or bladder and vagina), vaginal dryess (probably not), foreign object (I once found a piece of glass high inside a patient's vagina), or rectal problems. If your cervix was left behind, it can be stimulated by hormones and bleed. Finally, a tiny piece of fallopian tube can get caught high up in the vagina, and bleed. Thus, what you need is a good "once over" by a gynecologist who will take the time to look at every inch of the vagina and external area. I hope you are able to find an answer. In fact, if you could, please write back to let us know what it was. Best wishes,
