HRT, Pelvic Pain adn High Blood Pressure - 2nd postFrom: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 8 Nov 1998 07:35:54 -0600 (CST)
I am 31 years old. A brief history is as follows: May 1996: C-section delivery follwed by six severe post partum hemorrhages over the next four weeks (total of 18 units of blood transfused over this month) June 1996: Abdominal hysterectomy to stop the bleeding March 1997 - Right Oopherectomy due to prolapsed ovary. Endometriosis also found at this time and started on six months of Lupron. September 1997 - Exploratory abdominal surgery for pain ending up with a left Oopherectomy due to adhesions Since the last surgery, I have been having problems getting HRT regulated. I have been on 0.3 mg of Premarin for three months now and am still waking every night with hot flashes. I also have a bad case of vaginal dryness. This is along with Chronic Pelvic Pain which I am told is from all the adhesions. I had a doctors appointment last week and was basically told that i had to learn to live with the pain, and all they could do was prescirbe me Clondine 0.1mg per day for the hot flashes. I asked the doctor if I should be on a higher dose of estrogen to get the benefits for osteoporosis and was told that 0.3 mg is plenty. Is this info correct? One other problem is that my blood pressure for the past two months has been around 149/88. It was always about 120/60. I was told that there was nothing to worry about and at 149/88 it is not high blood pressure. Does this sound right ?? We are in the military and stationed overseas so my choices for health care are very limited. Thank you Karen
