The age old story...From: Linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 Oct 1998 12:33:06 -0600 (CST)
I am 42, suffered with endometriosis since about age 18, had multiple surgeries, sacral neurectomy, multiple implants on bowel, etc., severe endometriosis. I have been relatively symptom free for the last eight years, but now it is rearing its ugly head again. My physician passed away, and the GYN who I saw a week ago was pretty sure that I had endometriosis behind my uterus. I asked about hysterectomy and he said this was a good alternative. I have had second thoughts in reviewing the information on the NET, and was not very comfortable with this new physician so want to find another physician who specializes in endo. I have received one of five Lupron shots - feeling like doggy do. Wouldn't it seem a good alternative to have the new implants taken care of and retain my uterus being so close to menopause, or possibly have an endoscopic hysterectomy and retain my one remaining ovary if possible so as to avoid taking artificial estrogen which I am opposed to. How do I go about finding a physician who is well versed with endo and its treatment? Any thoughts on any of this appreciated.
