Adhesions -- sorry, I wasn't paying attentionFrom: Suzanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 26 Oct 1998 02:11:59 -0500
Apologizing now for not paying closer attention to the adhesions posts, but there was just so much of the same stuff being said over and over that I started tuning them out (and have no desire to find them again in the archives). My mother had surgery to remove her ovaries 6 years ago (9 years after her uterus was removed). During that surgery the 2nd ovary couldn't even be visualized due to severe adhesions. The doctor spent 4 hours removing the adhesions, and just assumed that he got the 2nd ovary because it definitely wasn't in the abdomen when he closed. Now she is having severe pain, and is assuming she has adhesions again. The question is -- What kind of doctor should she go to about this? And what exactly are the barriers called that can be placed during surgery to prevent the recurrence of adhesions (and how effective are they?)? Thanks, ****************************** Suzanne S.
