AdhesionsFrom: Fern (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 25 Oct 1998 12:03:04 -0600 (CST)
I have been experiencing abdominal pain on and off for eight years. I had an appendectomy in 1981, a laparoscopic procedure to drain an ovarian cyst in 1990, and a cholecystectomy in 1991. In the past 6 weeks I have had severe right quadrant abdominal pain. I have been diagnosed with a partial ileus and irritable bowel syndrome. I have lost approximately 15 pounds that previously I could not loose. Treatment has not improved my symptoms. I had a colonoscopy which did not give me any answers. I have lost my job which has caused financial stress and I am at the end of my rope. Please note I also suffer from fibromyalgia. I have had counseling for chronic pain management. I am a nurse and have suspected since my gall bladder surgery that I may be suffering from adhesions. The pain associated with that surgery never totally resolved and my irritable bowel occurred after the surgery. What is your opinion and how do I find a doctor to help me?
