Pre-partum depression?

I was wondering if it's normal to be somewhat cranky and depressed toward the end of pregnancy. I'm at 35 weeks, getting kind of uncomfortable, not sleeping well etc., but are there hormonal changes at this stage that can trigger depression? I'm trying to be cheerful, but it's not easy and I'm beginning to feel sorry for the people around me. If I knew this was just a normal part of pregnancy and that it might go away after I have the baby, I'd probably feel better.
