I strongly suggest that if you plan on having more children you take the opportunity early in your prenatal care to discuss your plans and wishes during labor and delivery. Most OB's are quite open to this important discussion and will consciously make every effort to honor the Mom-to-be's wishes concerning her labor and delivery experience. My mother, in 1961, in a very small midwestern town, gave birth to a 9 lb 13 3/4 oz. baby (me) without drugs and immediately began breastfeeding. (She did have an episiotomy) - I find it difficult to believe that after all these years of "Natural Childbirth" there are still some OB's who don't want to follow that course.
