Re: depo provera & anxiety/depressionFrom: Patti Tessler, FNP (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 21 Oct 1998 07:34:40 -0500 (CDT)
At Wed, 7 Oct 1998, Tara wrote about anxiety and depression on DMPA; her last shot was due 9/30 and she did not get it: Depression can be a side effect of Depo Provera, and it seems to affect women with a history of depression. Side effects from the shot often decrease three and a half to four months after the last injection, although it may take as long as 18 months for fertility to return. On the other hand, a women may get pregnant very soon after the last injection was due, so you should use some sort of protection. Regardless of the cause, depression is a dangerous disorder. I urge you to talk with a counselor about your feelings. Hopefully this problem will disappear quickly.
