adenomyosis at 26?From: Nia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 14 Oct 1998 13:32:17 -0500 (CDT)
I would just like to know how this is diagnosed. I had a laparoscopy done in Sept. b/c my drs. were convinced I had endometriosis: I've been on the pill since 1990 but for the past year have had increasingly painful periods, rectal pain, back and leg pain. I finally sought help when I was taking over 3000 mgs. of motrin on a bad day. Anyway, they said my lap was clear, no endo, but that it 'is probably adenomyosis'. How can they prove this definitively? I am only 26, and was told this usually happens in women who've already begun childbearing. I have no kids and have never been pregnant, never had an std or anything else that could be causing this. I do have 3 small fibroids, which my doctors are unconvinced are responsible for this much pain (I'm now on percocet for the really painful days). Besides the lap, I've had a cat scan and ultrasound; I'm scheduled for an MRI next week. Any advice? I'm scared of Lupron and Synarel, and am too young to consider a hysterectomy. I would appreciate any information. Thanks!
