TSH level

Does TSH level tend to fluctuate or should it be a fairly stable value for a particular individual? I had TSH measured in 1996 as part of a workup for galactorrhea and it was 2.6 micro IU/ML (lab norm .4 - 5.5) -- prolactin was normal. I recently had another done during a routine exam and the level had dropped to 0.94 micro IU/ML (lab norm .4 - 4.6).

Although both values are within the normal ranges, I was just wondering if there is any significance to this drop? Could this difference be due to discontinuing BCP's before the 2nd test?

Thanks, Andrea
