Re: tubaligationFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 7 Oct 1998 13:49:23 EDT
Hi, My name is Awilda, and I am 41 years of age. I had a tubal done 3 years ago. Right after I had my tubal a couple of months later, I started having excruciating pain with my periods and my periods then went from 5 days to 7 days up until January of this year when my periods became out of whack, a lot of heavy bleeding with large clots on days 6,7, and 8. My periods would last for 14 days. The bleeding was so bad that I could not go to work as I would soak a pad. I would sit on the bathroom for an hour or two and the bleeding would not stop. I notified my GYN, MD, informed her of what I was experiencing. I told her that this problem has started ever since I had my tubal she said it was not related. Anyway to make the long story short everytime I would go to her office she would do and internal pelvic ultra sound to look for fibroids or polyps, or anything else that may be causing this heavy bleeding but to no avail. She did a colposcopy which was negative, in May of 98 she performed a D&C hoping that this would clear up the problem and at the same time have some tissue examined for cervical and uterine cancer, that was also negative. She then told me that this was a hormonal problem and suggested I start taking birth control pills as this would control the bleeding. So in June of 98 I started the pills the first two months I still had the same problem with the bleeding. The third month my period was fine 5 days and it was gone. But then in September I started having the heavy bleeding again with large clots on days 6, 7, and 8. At this point I now was angry because I thought the pills were finally in my system and working. So I contacted my GYN doc again and she scheduled me for an appointment. Another internal pelvic ultra sound was performed and this time she found polyps in my cervix. Now I must go for another ultrasound to determine the size and then she wants a Hysteroscopy done to remove the polyp. My guestion is why did she not find it the first time? And why did the pills not work? Is it necessary to have a hysteroscopy? And why not medication? I am really afraid of surgery as I just had surgery for the removal of my gallbladder and I'm still trying to recoup from that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
