ultrasound picked up 2 blood vessels & enlarged kidneyFrom: Alice (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 Oct 1998 13:29:38 -0500 (CDT)
Please help me. I am 31 weeks pregnant and my doctor picked up an abnormal umbilical cord (2 vessel) and an enlarged kidney on my last sonogram. I have had previous sonograms to date (5). I am 31 years old, with 3 other children (all fine). Doctor scheduled me for an amnio to detect certain chromosome abnormalities. My question is this, shouldn't this have been picked up earlier in previous sonograms? I understand that sonograms don't always pick up many things, but surely, this should have been detected earlier, or am I nuts? Doctor told me that I'm late into the pregnancy and will have to deliver. So I don't really have any choices no matter what the outcome of the amnio. Please, I've searched all over for any information on this subject and I'm just about running out of hope for some insight not answers. Thank You, Alice
