Alison Nicole born by VBACFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 26 Sep 1998 17:48:02 -0500 (CDT)
Thanks to all the doctors, etc., that have answered the various questions that have popped up during this pregnancy. Just wanted to let you all know that my baby girl was born on Friday, 9/18. I went into labor on my own (on my due date, coincidentally enough) and she was born by VBAC. I arrived at the hospital fully dilated with my water broken. (Long story - didn't really think I was in labor. Went from erratic contractions to every 2 - 3 minutes.) Twice I was almost sectioned. First time, her BP was low due to the epidural, but they gave me epinephrin to solve the problem. Second time, the doctor tried to vacuum her unsuccessfully. (She was still at +1 or +2 station and her heart rate was having some bad decels so the doctor couldn't wait any longer.) I kept pushing anyway and out her head popped, much to the doctor's surprise (and everyone else's)! For anyone considering VBAC, unless there's a medical indication for a repeat C, I say "go for it". Your recovery is so much easier and quicker, and the thrill of pushing your little one out into this world is something you cannot overestimate!
