When I was pregnant with my son, he was face up all the way through labor and delivery. The last 10 weeks of pregnancy was painful for me because his skull was putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. By the time he was 3 or 4 weeks old all the pain had subsided. With my daughter 4 years later I started having contractions though not regular or strong all through the last month. During the last two weeks I was taken into the labor/delivery room twice because the contractions were strong and very regular - 5 minutes apart. Then they would just stop. Very frustrating! I walked around the best I could during those last 4 weeks feeling like I was having really bad menstrual cramps and that the baby along with my uterus would drop to the floor. It got to the point that in tears I begged my OB to please please please induce labor. He said, NO WAY! I was already 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. He assured me that anyday now, "real" labor would begin, try to be patient and relax (yeah, right!) Sure enough, she, like her brother, were born exactly 280 days from conception, I was so regular in the old days : -) Hang in there Susan, you'll make it. Try to keep your knees above your hips when sitting to ease the pressure on your low back. Try not to sit or stand for such long periods of time. When standing try shifting your weight often or even use a low stool and raising one foot on it. I used the under-the-sink cabinet for that when doing dishes. And above all, try to focus on the reward of this long, sometimes difficult journey. Best of luck to you!
