I realise this is a very stressful time following 2 miscarriages. However, I regret that the use of progesterones (except for assited pregnancies) is of no proven value following 2 miscarriages.

Somewhere between 15 - 25% of women miscarry. So nearly a quarter of pregnancies miscarry. This is not normally because there is anything wrong with the mother but just natures way of sorting out abnormal babies and maternal conditions which are not suitable for carrying a pregnancy at that time.

After 2 consequetive miscarriages the probability of you carrying a baby to term is 70%. If you were to have another, then you would be classed as a recurrent miscarrier. There are only a few things of proven value of preventing a miscarriage. The first is Tender Loving Care (don't underestimate this, support and prevention of mental stress is very important). The second is in a small group of women who have something called the antiphospholipid syndrome. In this group of women 2 drugs called aspirin and heparin can prevent a miscarriage.
