Althought there is good theory behind this it is not proven. The other possibility is that you have what is called an anthropoid pelvis. This predisposes to what is called an occipito-posterior position which slows labour down. However, well over than 50% of babies turn during labour. The above is more common in women of African origin (less so of West-Indian).
