questionFrom: Sally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Aug 1998 21:04:28 -0500 (CDT)
Diagnosed with overian cancer in April, 1998. At time of diagnosis, CA-125 was at 936. Immediately following surgery, CA-125 was at 235. Since then it has dropped to 113, 79, 60, 50, 40. Next week I will entered series 8 of chemo. Went to see another specialist for a second opinion on Moday f this past week. He claimed that the CA-125 should have dropped to a very low figure after a couple series of treatments. He claims that the slow though persistent drop suggests that perhaps the dosage has not been aggresive enough (not at 100% dosage- Toxal and Carboplatin--and not increased at any time along the way) or that cancer may be lurking elsewhere within me. He has also recommended that I seek another opinion perhaps through the oncology department at M. D. Anderson Clinic in Houston, Texas. What does the steady but slow drop in CA 125 count really suggest?
