Miscarriage questionFrom: Allisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Aug 1998 14:36:20 -0500 (CDT)
I was at my OB for the 10 week checkup yesterday and she didn't find a heartbeat. She did an ultrasound and found a gestational sac, but she did not see a fetus. I don't understand how that can happen. How can you have one and not the other? She said that it was a miscarriage, and that it was a common type of miscarriage where the baby never develops. Could this be caused by some medication I took before I knew I was pregnant? Or was it just a natural thing where the baby was not conceived right? I haven't had a miscarriage yet, but she said I would. Do doctors ever just give you a D&C at this point instead of waiting for a miscarriage? I think I am still very shocked that this happened. How can I stop it from happening again the next time I get pregnant? Should I wait a while before I try again?
