Cervix length throughout pregnancy

I was sifting through the archives and have read the posts on the average cervical length. My question is, in a women who has no history of early dilation or incompetent cervix problems does their cervical length remain constant in all trimesters of pregnancy (of course I know it changes closer to due date) or does a normal cervix shorten somewhat in pregnancy?

Thanks,

Jenn
