I have an incompetent cervix and a cerclage that was placed at 11 weeks. At 10 weeks of pg they did a baseline measurement of the cervix with an endovaginal probe. I have been told that that is the most accurate type of ultrasound method to measure cervical length. The other day (I'm 16 weeks) I had an ultrasound done again to measure the cervix length but this time it was done as an abdominal scan. My cervix measured 1 centimeter shorter than it was at 10 weeks of pg. I am in a bit of a panic, because any shortening of my cervix concerns me. Can anyone with ultrasound experience tell me if the 2 different types of ultrasound methods that were used could account for the 2 different measurements? Could it be that the abdominal ultrasound was not as accurate and made it appear as if my cervix has gotten shorter or am I kidding myself? Jenn
