My doctor's office is like that. You have to make it very clear to the person booking appts that you are having a serious problem. If that person can't get you an appt soon enough, ask to speak to your doctor's nurse. She should be able to understand that you need an appt ASAP.

When I was having my first ovarian cyst with my doctor, the receptionist tried to give me an appt in 2 weeks. I had to really get insistant with her that I was hurting and had been for over a week. I spoke to the nurse and got an appt the next day.

I have to schedule my yearly visits 3 months in advance to get seen when I want to.
