After the pill....Question

My husband and I are wanting to start a family now. I am currently 25 yrs old and I just discontinued taking Ortho Novum birth control pills after taking them for 8 years. I have not had any periods for this 8 year period even though there were "inactive" Pills in each pack that I took for a week and this was when I should have had my period. I questioned this when I first started taking the pills but was told it shouldn't be a problem. So, I left well enough alone and have not had any periods the entire time I have been on the Pill. Prior to getting on the Pill, I believe I had fairly regular periods. I am wondering, should they start up again since I have stopped taking the Pills?? Do you think this may be a problem????? Please let me know what you think.
