Please help me re: anticardiolipin - Dr. Shanahan or anyone else! From: Yvette (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Aug 1998 11:41:55 -0500 (CDT)
I am trying to conceive (for almost a year) and started seeing an RE about a month ago. I have never been PG. I am 31. I just learned I tested positive for anticardiolipin and am scared to death. My RE said all I need is baby aspirin. I e-mailed Dr. Beer and he said I need other tests beyong the 3 my RE did (anticardio.. ANA, lupus anticoag.) for immune probelms. I asked my RE about this and he said since I have never miscarried that there is no reason to do more tests or to treat with more than baby aspirin. I also do not ovulate properly and so far I haven't responded at all to cycles of clomid. So I may be doing injectibles soon. Do you think if I need any more testing or is there anything else I should be doing right now??? Also, if I take baby aspirin does that reduce my risk a lot? at all? When you had your two miscarriages did you already know you had anticardiolipin and were you already being treated for it??? Please let me know!!!! Also, the nurse told me my anticardio. level was 12 and that 5 (or below, I guess) is normal. Do you know if 12 is low/medium/or high positive???
