taking nifedipine to stop preterm laborFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 10 Aug 1998 10:10:46 -0500 (CDT)
I went into preterm labor at 28 weeks and was put on nifedipine to stop the contractions. I've been taking it for 6 weeks now and will probably have to stay on it for 2 more weeks. I'm really concerned about the safety of this drug since I've been on it for so long. I couldn't find any information on the internet or the medical library regarding the use of this drug in pregnancy. The drug is listed in pregnancy category C so it worries me that I have to take it. Any information anyone could give me regarding the use of nifedipine in pregnancy would be greatly appreciated.
