Re: Clomid--hot flashes etc....any cures????From: Donna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 9 Aug 1998 19:14:58 -0500 (CDT)
Carmen, The Soy product you are referring to is a Phytoestrogen, a plant source estrogen. For some women, increased dietary intake of phytoestrogens will help to minimize hot flashes. To my knowledge, there is no information about the use of phytoestrogens simultaneously with clomiphene citrate. Since you are on the clomiphene citrate to induce ovulation, I would be careful about adding in anything that could possibly influence the effectiveness of the medications you are on. Regarding the cervical mucus, decreased production of cervical mucus can be a side effect of clomiphene citrate use. There has been suggestion that the use of robitussin (plain) for several days prior to ovulation may help to thin cervical mucus. Others have supplemented estrogen after the last dose of clomiphene citrate until ovulation. You should talk more with your health care provider about this. They may feel, however, since you are planning IUI, that there is no need to change the consistency of the cervical mucus at this time. IUI will bypass the cervix. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Donna
