Any Advice For Conceiving?From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 06 Aug 1998 21:12:49 -0500
I went off the pill (Minestrin) in late March after being on it for almost 3 years, and in May I and my husband started trying to conceive. I think that since April I ovulate every month, as I have the midcycle lower left side abdominal pain/discomfort which extends into my left thigh. My menstrual cycle since going off the pill is 25-27 days long, the same as it was before starting the pill. I am 29 years old and he's 34. (Each of us has never tried to have children before). I am healthy. My husband is healthy, though one of his testicles is quite a bit higher up than the other one (about 2 inches/5 cm) so I don't know whether that would affect sperm production. We don't drink alcohol or smoke. He just changed to wearing boxer shorts instead of jockeys. We try to have intercourse in the days around ovulation time. I know that if and when it's meant to happen, I will get pregnant, but is there anything more he and I can do? How long can the egg and sperm survive? Thank you for your advice.
