> This was a tip that was given to me by a nurse friend: if you have a tendency to become nauseous while taking narcotic pain pills, tell the anesthesologist before the surgery. He can give you an injection for nausea before it even starts. Also, bring a list of all the medications, over-the-counter drugs, and vitamins that you take. I found that the day of my surgery I totally blanked out on all of that information. I would ask your doctor and make sure that this is okay, but the nurses told me that ice packs on my incision area would help pain and it did. My biggest worry was the general anesthetic. I didn't want a tube down my throat. You won't notice it at all. The biggest concern is the post-op at home. Make a "nest" where everything is easily accessable. I also bought a book that I really wanted to read and I saved it for the recoup time at home. I was lucky and had my mom come over and clean my house, cook, and help me out. If you don't have help, try and do those things before you have the surgery. A clean bedroom really helps! Good luck, everything will work out great. Ann
