HMO'sFrom: AnnMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Aug 1998 09:30:01 -0500 (CDT)
We just changed insurance to an HMO-type where you need primary MD authorization to go to an ER in the middle of the night or anytime for something other than a heart attack. Personally, I hate this type of insurance. Ob/Gyns are considered an additional primary MD. Is it okay to page the OB/GYN during the night for a gyn problem, or should the regular primary MD be paged instead? I've always tried to be "considerate" and just let the PG patients wake up the ob/gyn's at overnight. Now that may have to change. Do doctors have a preference? It worries me that I may need to use it some night or weekend b/c of such painful ovulation changes the past couple months, and I usually "O" on weekends. Thanks much for you help! ~~ Ann
