I would guess that the discharge is brown because your period was relatively recent, and the discharge looks different from that after sex because there's no semen mixed with the vaginal fluids. If the discharge has an associated odor or irritation and lasts for a day or two, check it out with your health care provider.

I don't know what you mean by "irritation" on the vaginal wall. If you're feeling pain or burning, it might be a sign to be more gentle. If it persists, get it looked at.

Remember to wash anything that goes in your vagina beforehand, and don't go from anal to vaginal sex play without washing the finger/penis/sex toy first.
