Triphasic versus Monophasic Birth Control PillsFrom: Stephanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Jul 1998 18:27:32 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I was wondering if someone could give me a run-down of the differences/similarities between monophasic and triphasic birth control pills? I was on Triphasil for about two years and then started spotting every couple of months (about 3-5 times a year for a period of two to three days around ovulation). My doctor switched me over to Ortho-Cyclen, which I assume is monophasic. I was wondering since I just started OrthoCyclen about two weeks ago, should I be expecting any new side effects? Are monophasic pills "stronger" or will they affect me more physiologically and psychologically than the triphasic ones? Thanks.
