Incompetent CervixFrom: Vincent (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Jul 1998 11:49:50 -0500 (CDT)
My wife is 16 weeks pg with twins. On Tues we noticed a very small amout of pink in her discharge. so small, it was hard it determine if it was there or not. We called the OBGYN who was still seeing pataints that night. She said to come in. When we did, she said that her cervix was opening up. It was large enough to fit the tip of a q-tip through but not her finger. She could also see mucus and membrane. but not much. We were sent to the hopital. Because she had had dinner, we couldnt do surgery then. They did a sono. They said we had lost more than 50%. But the babies looked fine on their sono. She spent the night with her feet up and head down. The next day they operated. our OBGYN put in a stich, but she didnt like the way it looked so she put in a second. She said everything looked real good. That she didnt see any membranes when she did it, only mucus. My question is this. What are the chances that we will be able to carry these babies far enough to deliver them. I know there are no guarantees, but do we have a good chance? Maybe someone can tell us on a scale of 1-10. Any advice would be welcome
