Dr. Ind,

I am not looking for someone to diagnose me! Just someone who can answer general questions based on their experience of treating many patients like me. For example, I'd like to find out if it's possible that the pain I still experience after a long treatment with antibiotics may be just residual inflammation rather than a new or latent infection (given that the urine test done here is negative and the urologist I saw in New York found no structural problems). An experienced specialist could tell me what in general might or might not be normal, or what I may expect to experience symptomatically. This would help me make better decisions about traveling for specialized treatment if necessary and assist me in interacting with my primary care physician here. (He's very good, but not very experienced in this particular problem. Additionally, he's the only GP in the clinic, so is constantly besieged with acute sicknesses of every ilk- so he understandably does not have tons of time for my questions, and I don't want to bother him unnecessarily). Believe me, I have no intention of replacing my primary care pysician or specialized treatment with e-mail correspondence- I hold my health a bit too dear for that! But even given the limitations of the medium, I think it would be extremely helpful for me to have someone wise in this subject who would be willing to correspond with me.

There is decent treatment available locally for acute but not-too-serious health problems, but all my doctors constantly tell me to seek care elsewhere (Europe or the States) if I can. Diagnostic machinery is not as reliable and there is no specialist locally to help me with my problem. Believe me, I've been looking! Because I have both periodic acute pain and long bouts of discomfort, for me to get care abroad for my total problem would necessitate a prolonged trip- but my life and work are here, so this is not really an option.

Thank you for responding to my query. I hope this helps to clarify what I am seeking.

Regards, Eve
