Education is one thing, but diagnosis and treatment is another. Most non-medical folks do not really understand the critical importance of the physical examination, which is something we cannot do over the phone or the Internet. Many gynecology patients, for instance, will come in the office for something like pain, and want a prescription for their symptoms, but want to decline the all-important physical exam. So, it seems like it would be safer for you to find a doctor elsewhere who can perform a history and physical. Once the problem is diagnosed, it would be at least a little safer for him or her to treat recurrences from a distance. Good luck with everything,
