All the medical literature I've read basically supports that BCP's help prevent cysts. And the first cyst I had, I was not taking BCP's at all and never had. If you can handle taking the BCP, it would be a good idea to take it so you don't have anymore cysts. Only a small minority of women (like myself) get cysts while on birth control pills. My cysts are functional cysts which are a biproduct of ovulation. BCP's should suppress ovulation, but they don't in me.
