It is unlikely that "everything" one consumes passes through the placenta to the baby, but many things do cross from the maternal to the placental blood streams.

It takes about 7 days after the egg is fertilized for it to implant into the uterus and begin growing. This is about 3 weeks after the last menstrual period (or 1 week before the next period would be due). As soon as implantation occurs, it is theoretically possible for things to pass into the fetal system. Whether or not this occurs is a guess, as it is extremely difficult to measure things in the tiny embryo at this stage. Certainly, by the time you miss your next period, there is a vascular connection between the mom and the baby.
