abnormal pap, CIN 3 and pregnancyFrom: Dawn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 Jul 1998 22:45:28 -0500 (CDT)
I have had abnormal pap results for the past 2 years, including 1 biopsy which showed chronic cervicitis. After a recent miscarriage, a pap came back abnormal, as usual, but my new doctor referred me to a specialist. He performed a colposcopy and biopsy and found CIN 3. We had discussed a 3 month window for me to try to get pregnant again prior to the biopsy. Now he wants to perform a LEEP immediately. However, I may be pregnant again already (I'm hoping anyway). My question is: 1) What exactly is a CIN 3? 2) can treatment wait until after we get pregnant if it is in the next three months? and If I am already pregnant, would a LEEP be safe to do now? I know I should have waited one more cycle after my miscarriage (5/25), but we want a baby so badly, I just couldn't stand it. Thank you for any information you can give me. I am so worried now that I may have another miscarriage from this condition or from the stress of worrying about the whole thing.
-- Sincerely,
