painful intercourseFrom: Jack (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Jul 1998 17:38:30 -0500 (CDT)
My fiance has experienced increasing pain during intercourse for the past year. It is to the point now where we are unable to even have sex. She has been to four gyno's and almost every single one has diagnosed something different. The first thing that came up was endometriosis, but some of the other doctors thought it might be other things from types of vaginitis to musclular and bone problems in the pelvic region. Her latest doctor sent her to a physical theoropist where she gets a treatment with a tranducer and also the theoropist is "trying to correct an allignment of her pelvic floor." The treatment she is getting has something to do with her vaginal muscles tightening too much for sex, which is causing the pain. They said this could have happened from a fall, like snow skiing (which could make sense). Has anyone ever heard of this treatment for painful intercouse? Also, can anyone recomend any Doctors in the Knoxville, Tennessee area that might specialize in the treatment of pain during intercourse. I can't understand why every doctor has a different idea of what may be causing this. I thought medicine was a science. Thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide!
