I am hoping that it is not a common thought amongst physicians that there is no relationship between removal of ovaries and dimished libido. It makes me absolutley c-r-a-z-y when I hear doctors referring these affected ladies to therapists because it is all in their head. I personally believe there has to be some relationship. And all those ladies out there having problems cannot all be wrong. I had a TAH/BSO one year ago, and for several months, I had absolutely no sexual thoughts. Tom Selleck himself could stand naked before me and I know I would have said, Get out of the way, Tom, you are blocking my view!!!! LOL It wasn't because I was nervous of "it" or anything like that (this seems to be one reason thrown out there). I simply did not have any urge. None. If my hubby approached me, it was fine & enjoyable, but it never would cross my mind otherwise. It was very unreal. Slowly it came back; after 6 or 7 months, I would say. I am not taking HRT, so it is not that. I have a regime of vitamins, herbs and exercise and I think that may have a part to do with it. Postive attitude may help - but I had that during and after my surgery anyway, and I still had this "dull" period. Who knows? My doctor, whom I dearly love and trust, did bring this subject up before my surgery and assured me that there "should be no problem in this regard", that it may take time afterwards. So there you go. I think that the majority of times there is not a problem at all, and sometimes it is a problem "for awhile" (as in my case). Then, there are others with whom the problem is on-going. I guess it is very unpredictable. I believe, personally, that most times HRT and/or time itself will take care of the problem. The key is to educate yourself and make sure that you are doing what is best for you, given the situation. And make sure you talk to your doctor!! I hope that some other medical professionals put their "two cents" forward on this. It is very important to so many women out there with upcoming surgeries.

All the best to you all, whoever you are - Be well, Jean
