I am 33 and for the past 4 years I have had very regular menstual cycles; I get my period every 30 days. 2 months ago my period was strange...it stopped then started again for an extra day. I went to my internal physician, who did a quick exam and said everything looked fine. She called me 2 weeks later however and said that my pap smear was slightly atypical and that I should be re-tested in 3 months. My last 2 periods since then have been normal.

Today I got my period. The problem is that it has been only 2 1/2 weeks since the start of my last period. My period has never been less than 3 1/2 weeks. My husband and I want to start trying to conceive in the next two months and I am worried about medical problems and my fertility. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? Could my period irregularities be connected to the pap smear? We called a friend who is a doctor and she said not to worry...but I have a gut feeling that something is wrong. I am planning to try to see an OB/GYN on Monday, but I would like some idea what to ask her. Please help, Thanks.
