Going for Laparoscopy 7-17From: jessica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 9 Jul 1998 16:44:52 -0500 (CDT)
I'm just 28 this week and have a 3 year old daughter. (c-section) After she was about 1 1/2 I began having terrible pain just below the right side of my belly button. I saw my Doc and his associate on several occasions. First it was possibly adhesions then a periumbilical hernia. I was scheduled to see the surgeon to confirm the hernia diagnosis however I never did because I was told that if I was planning on having another child that the repairs would not last and I would most likely need surgery again. The months went on and I stopped taking BC pills in Aug of 97. My period has finally the last two months been 28 days but I have come to the conclusion that the pain I was experiencing now only came within 12 hous of my period and got worse as I menstruated. I returned to my doctor and just am getting over my most recent period. I have not concieved in almost a year, I have charted CM and BBT with no luck. Between the abdominal pain and infetility and sometime pain with intercourse my doc scheduled the laparoscopy. I guess I have a few questions. First, Should any other medical tests ie: ultrasound, x-rays be done before this diagnostic surgery? My primary concern is that the pain I do feel seems well, surfacy and is so close to where the scope will be inserted is there chance of some kind of rupture and/or not being able to see this (endo, adhesions etc.) if it is in the stomach lining/wall? In reading I have found that endo can be anywhere, has anyone reading or any of you doctors seen anything close to my situation?
