Just had a Uterine Artery embolizationFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 2 Jul 1998 21:10:26 -0500 (CDT)
I just got back today from an overnight stay for embolization. It was a somewhat unique invent (first time at this hospital in Scottsdale, AZ/Phoenix area.) The procedure went very well. The only discomfort I had pre and during procedure was twitchy feelings in my legs and arms. Next thing I knew it was done. Have had mild cramplike pain very similar to first stage of labor. I never have painful periods so I can't compare it to those. On Morphine and toradol (anti-inflammatory) til this morning, now Dilaudid and super-duper Motrin... and after a few days, switch to Tylenol 3 and Motrin. Only complication was a possible hematoma, and the nursing staff's constant investigations of this caused massive bruising. But otherwise, OK! About the hematoma, I guess it's a common complication of angiography and the first 15 minutes after you come out of the procedure the nurses are applying big time manual pressure to your groin. So there I am trying to find some humor in this situation <LOL.>
