Image Library and a QuestionFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSun, 28 Jun 1998 13:51:14 EDT
Dr. Hill, Excellent job on a wonderful addition to the site! What a wealth of information at the image library! In looking at some of the photos, I read the description of the difference between a nulliparous cervix and a parous cervix in terms of shape. I transcribe the "type" of cervix a lot while doing medical transcription and was always curious as to what the difference was. Nice to know! My question, though, is in cases such as mine, where a c-section is done for breech presentation (with very little, if any, dilation of the cervix). Does the cervix take on a parous "appearance" just by virtue of a pregnancy or is it the labor and delivery that controls that? Since I didn't deliver vaginally, I just wondered if my cervix would still appear nulliparous or not. Thanks! Darcy Johnson Co-Moderator, Women's Health Forum
