Gina-- If you only talked to your doctor about this once, you should talk to him again. If you've talked to him at least twice about it, then get a second opinion ASAP. This is seriously interfering with your functioning, according to what you've said. The premenstrual spotting and the back pain are very characteristic of endometriosis, I believe, and that could be part or all of your problem. You might also have bacterial vaginosis, an extremely common condition, particularly among mature women. BV is a pain, as I can personally attest, but with luck it can be at least controlled. I've had good results with a tea tree oil solution, per Dr. Andrew Weil's suggestion in his book "Natural Health, Natural Medicine." Good luck, Gina, I hope you find some answers. Angela
