Dear friends of OBGYN.net Women's Health Forum,

It is with a sad heart indeed that I write this post today. I awoke this morning after a pleasant evening out with family to find private emails from women and medical professionals alike who were disturbed by the postings about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome on the Womens Health Forum on OBGYN.net. After reading them I found myself again, in the position of Editor of OBGYN.net Women/Patients, in need of making a decision about the currant thread and the tone of the personal agenda that this topic was taking.

All of us have questions and all of us at times have reached out to this forum for help and information from one another as women or from Medical Professionals willing to spend their precious time helping us. The greatest gift that this Women's Health Forum provides is a vehicle to ask for and receive the knowledge and opinions of people that are either trained in the field of Women's Health or those of us that are women, women that sometimes have been there before us that are willing to share. Sharing is what this forum is all about.

This in no way is the same as when someone writes in and in a blanket fashion attacks the entire ob/gyns profession for a lack of knowledge, or of attempting to dismiss a condition or even worse of lack of "caring" about their condition. I must tell you that as a nurse and the mother in law of a breast cancer surgeon, I personally take offense to this type of posting. And better yet, as a women who has had the privilege of becoming friends with most of the ob/gyns on this site I am just plain Mad! I will not sit idle and watch blanket statements made about a group of people that have dedicated their entire lives to treating and helping Women be attacked en mass...

I had a tubal ligation at the age of 36 after giving birth to four great children,. My decision to have this procedure was Mine an mine alone. I have never had any problems associated with this procedure and have never know anyone that has and this is a period of over 25 years. This does Not mean that no one has had problems. Every surgical procedure has the potential for side effects and some people seem to get more of them then others. It does not mean that physicians are keeping valuable information from their patients either!

If there is already a forum for women with problems as stated in one of the posts, and they are using that forum for an exchange of thoughts about Post Tuble Ligation Syndrom, then, That, is where this discussion should be.

Well the same goes here at OBGYN.net Women's Health Forum. We are here by the goodness and compasion of a group of ob/gyns world-wide that allow us to be on THEIR site! Yes, Allow us. I think sometimes we forget how and what the purpose of OBGYN.net was created for...It is and will always be a world-wide site for OBGYN's..The Women's/Patients side of the site was and is an extension of Their site. It's purpose is to educate and help women understand the conditions and procedures involved in their health care. I think it is time for some os us to read the Rules for posting to this forum. I am inclosing the URL.

It is NOT a place to Bash ob/gyn's! It is not a place for women with an agenda to come and attack the entire medical field. It is not a place for Forum Busters. I am inclosing the URL for Roberta's Ramblings titled "RX For A Forumbuster". She wrote this in Jan. after a similar experience on one of the forums. I encourage you to read it. It says it all!

I am stunned to say the least by this thread and have had the posts pulled and the posters removed from access to this forum as stated in the Rules For Posting To The WHF. This is my right as Editor and a right I feel is in the best interest of all of us, Medical Profesionals and women alike. Our forum must not and will not be a place to attack the Medical Profession. I do take this personaly because I am a member of that family.

Yours truly, Barbara
